Monday ... ERGGGHH!

Why do we put ourselves through this week after week? Monday. A reward for the excesses of weekend living, perhaps? Lately, it seems as though there's too much "living" being packed into those two short weekend days and, as a result, Mondays seem especially heinous, particularly as we begin them with the full understanding that they are followed by Tuesday, Wednesday ... interminable drudgery. Why do we do it? What are we trying to accomplish by torturing ourselves? More importantly, WHEN are we going to come to our senses?

DOWN WITH MONDAY'S TYRANNY!

I think it's all in the attitude. I've tried for a lot of years to think of Monday as a beginning. Beginnings should be fresh and shiny and fun. So if I can equate Mondays with beginnings, then it takes the drudgery out of getting up and going back to work.

It doesn't always work, but more often than not I'm ready to get up and see what the week will bring when that alarm goes off at 0500 on Monday morning.
